Sharing

I had a friend ask me why it was important for friends and family to share about our adoption approval with everyone. Good question! It reminded me of the e-mail I sent out to friends and family when we were searching for Maya (I had forgotten about it until now). I think it explains it pretty well:

As many of you probably already know, we are trying to adopt. What you might not know is that you can help us in this process by getting the word out. Please tell anybody and everybody you know—this will greatly increase our chances of finding a child. Adoption can be a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved.

If you know an individual or a family who is struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, please inform them of the help they can find at LDS Family Services and the option of adoption. LDS Family Services is a wonderful social services agency that provides counseling, resources, and help for unwed mothers—even if they don’t choose to place their child for adoption. Please direct individuals and families in this situation to www.itsaboutlove.com for more information about how LDS Family Services can help them.

Also, please pass our names along. If a mother does choose to place her child for adoption she can search through profiles of adoptive couples and choose the couple she feels will be best for her child. There are a lot of couples wanting to adopt so please give her the chance to get to know us.

Thank you for helping us to spread the news. We believe adoption is a wonderful option that can bring true happiness to birth parents, children, and adoptive couples alike. We know that it has already blessed our lives immensely.
